I’ve just returned from a fabulous weekend in Snowdonia where I was leading a photography workshop for Ocean Capture.

After everyone had arrived on Friday we headed out for a quick sunset shoot at a beautiful lake just a few minutes from our hotel. An early night was had by all ready for our 5am start to walk to the base of Snowdon where we were treated to spectacular views across Llyn Llydaw. The tranquil conditions led to mirror reflections in the lake of the mountain range behind. It would have been nice to have a few more clouds about but that’s being really picky!
After some well-earned breakfast and a bit of a rest we headed off for the afternoon to photograph the local waterfalls and “ooh” and “ahh” at the baby lambs.

For our dawn shoot on Sunday we headed out to Llynau Mymbyr; a classic Snowdonia location.
We were lucky enough to once again have a calm, tranquil morning and a glass like lake and today we also had some clouds which made for some dramatic skies using a long exposure.
Back to the hotel for breakfast, a rest and a couple of hours of critique and post processing tips before heading South for torrents and waterfalls.

All had a great time and I am already looking forward to going back. Maybe in the autumn for the wonderful array of colours or maybe in the winter for snow and frozen lakes ....

Comment from one of the workshop participants:

“We would like to thank you (Ocean Capture) and Kathy for a great experience. My husband and I had a fantastic time. The choice of the location was great and Kathy knew the area very well. We found her very competent, helpful and pleasant as a workshop leader. We will definitely come back again to one of your other workshops.” – Nur Tucker, April 2011
